Invisablity Cloak and article……No joke, this shit’s real

This cloak invariably invokes comparisons to Harry Potter, but it’s not quite that good - yet. Japanese prof Susumu Tachi and his grad students created what they call a “retro-reflective projection system,” which basically means that what’s on one side gets projected onto the other. The jacket is made up of special reflective beads, which function like cats-eyes, reflecting almost all the light back to the source with a minimum of scattering (the effect they harness is the same one desponsible for  “red-eye” in photos). When the rearward image is projected onto the front-facing beads, their shape and highly-focussed nature makes the picture look three dimensional… more or less. Each bead acts like a giant pixel.  Check out the really cool video demonstration after the jump.

Altair’s Full Costume!!

Here’s your chance to be a real13th century Assassin! Well look like one anyways…From the smash video game Assassin’s Creed, here is the full wardrobe of Altair! Everything is available from the boots, to the throwing daggers to the sword. I give this an A+ in Badassery, including the functional extending hidden blade! One drawback is that each part of the outfit costs its own individual price. But if you have the scratch and heart this is pretty cool. MuseumReplicas has the full info.

Holy SH%T! That verbage or something close to it should be what comes outta your mouth after viewing the above youtube video. Directed by Bang-Yao Liu this post it, stop motion short film was his senior project at Savannah College of Art and Design. In manipulating the post-it notes he was able to illustrate pixel like stop motion and make one incredible video. Liu says that his inspiration for the film came by not fighting with his school work but fighting with post it notes and deadlines.

The making of video which you can watch after the jump says that the film took 3 months of planning, 4 days of shooting and 6,000 Post-it Notes

Homemade Mech Robot: OMG He’s Gonna Kill Us All!!

Carlos Owens has way to much time on his hands. He has built an 18 foot tall metal monster. This homemade mech is a true testament DIY. This is quite an impressive build. This behemoth is a full scale mech that is able to mirror the moves of its human pilot. Its made of steel with a complex network of cables and hydraulics. Currently the mech can raise its arms bend at the knees and do the occasional sit up (hey a robot needs to stay in shape). He invested 4 years and $25,000 but isn’t done yet. He considers this to be just a prototype and plans on building 2 more of these things which will be lighter and more maneuverable. He does dream of military application but really just wants to entertain robot fans by hosting Mech Vs. Mech battles.

Neca’s The Dark Crystal’s skekSil, The Skeksis

NECA’s Cult Classics proudly debuts this 6″ figure of the next in line for the Skeksis throne and the baddest of the Dark Crystal baddies, skekSil

Personally, the Skeksis from Jim Hensons “The Dark Crystal” always freaked me out. In fact this movie terrified me when I wasa kid and couldn’t watch the flick in its entirety until I was in my late teens. Glad I overcame my fear cause The Dark Crystal is an awesome movie full of imagination and wonder. Though the Skeksis still give me the heeby geebies I’d be proud to display a smaller, plastic version on my shelf in honor of Jim Henson.

Drag me to Hell-ish Coasters!!!

Limited and wherever you can find them. Sam Raimi’s first trip back to horror left me happy and wanting more. So when I am putting a condensating ice tea down on my coffee table, I have the protection of all all things vile and unholy….to make sure a water ring doesn’t hurt my antique coffee table…..LOL, FIND’EM!!!

Satan’s Baby Cradle

I don’t know if this cradle is for the Adam’s Family or Edward Scissorhands, but it is made of stainless steel with false edges (I’m Assuming) and should make your baby severly badass and cause no harm to it. Again as a disclaimer, your child may grow up extremely into heavy metal  and enjoy the numbers 666.
